Homeschool With Index Cards
Not Just for Flashcards Anymore!
The 24 Board
Please forgive the dog paw prints all over the board.  I
was not able to get a picture of this until after he
decided to run across it while one of the kids was
working on their math facts!
24 Board Directions:
Need: 1 large piece of cardboard, 12 legal sized envelopes, marker, tape, scissors, ruler

Use your ruler and marker to make the 24 equal sections on the piece of cardboard.  Next,
seal the 12 envelopes and cut them in half so they are short and fat.  Label each envelope
on the smooth side with a number 1-24.  Adhere the envelopes to the board with tape.
You can cut out a small notch on the front of each envelope to make it easier to slide the
cards in and out of them.

Works great with the
ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION FLASHCARDS!
We use the 24 Board to help my kiddos practice their addition facts up through 12+12.
While they are practicing with their addition flashcards, they will look at the problem on
the front of their card, then place that card in the pocket they feel is the answer.  We
have penciled the answers on the backs of their cards, so when they have gone through
their entire set of cards, the cards are self-checking.  They simply pull the cards out of
each pocket, one pocket at a time, and check to make sure their answer was correct.
They will make 2 piles:  1 for correct answers, and 1 for incorrect answers.  We use the
incorrect pile to cover facts that need more work.  I can either create personalized
worksheets or we get out manipulatives and work with the facts that were wrong.
